CPRA encourages article submissions on topics of interest relevant to members of the Association for our quarterly Byline magazine.

Content Areas:

Articles

• 250-500 word maximum
  •  3-4 High Resolution Pictures in JPEG format

• 5-10 Articles to be featured per issue
• Topics may include but are not limited to:
  • Advocacy/Partnerships
  • Grant Application Opportunities
  • Risk Management

  • Any other topics you feel are relevant to parks and recreation

"Keeping Up" Agency Briefs & Organization Updates

• 300 word maximum
• 1-2 High Resolution Pictures in JPEG format
  • Note: We cannot guarantee any or all photos will be used.
• This content area is to meant to feature CPRA member organizations and their updates and current events. Please note this is not an advertisement. The purpose is to inform CPRA members about your organization, any new developments, struggles, renovations, new projects, programs etc.

Industry Partner Spotlight

• 250 word maximum
• 1-2 High Resolution Pictures in JPEG format
  • Note: We cannot guarantee any or all photos will be used.
• 1 Article to be featured per issue
• This content area is to meant to feature your organization or company in an article format. Please note this is not an advertisement. What does your company provide? Are there any trends related to your product(s)? Etc.

Member Spotlight

• 250 word maximum
• 1-2 High Resolution Pictures in JPEG format
  • Note: We cannot guarantee any or all photos will be used.
• 1 shout-out to be featured per issue
• This area is for member recognition. Do you know of someone who goes above and beyond? Is someone retiring? Show your appreciation by nominating them a spotlight!
  • Spotlight content is to be written by the nominator or another relevant colleague to highlight the nominee's efforts and successes in the field.
  • This feature is typically kept a secret from the highlighted individual until printed.

Article Review

Articles submitted by current CPRA members are considered on an exclusive basis. However, non-members who submit content will also be considered. Once an article is submitted for consideration it becomes the property of CPRA, and we reserve the right of first refusal. It may take several months to review the article and, if accepted, schedule its publication. If your piece is time-sensitive, please note that in your submission. For questions about the status of your article’s review, please contact CPRA at cpra@cpra-web.org.

Articles should be well written, readable and interesting to broad categories of membership. Avoid writing articles about highly specialized, technical topics or procedures that the broader CPRA membership would not find useful. We look especially for articles on topics of broad interest that are newsworthy and describe important developments in areas of parks and recreation.

CPRA reserves the right to make final determinations without author approval as it deems appropriate in the editing, format, and publication of all submissions.

Dates

Articles can be submitted year round but if you would like your content featured in a certain issue please use the deadlines below.

Content featured in CPRA publications are based on opinions and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of CPRA, are intended as general information on the topic covered and should not be construed as legal advice.
